Working with documents & Files
In Alice, you can upload and use documents in conversation as well as add them to your assistants and organize in the library. Here's everything you need to know to work with documents efficiently.
If you want to use the file for one conversation only and don't need to call it in future, you can simply drag and drop it onto Alice's conversation window. File that you've added is indicated by activation od Attach File icon, as well as preview (if available) is displayed above the conversation:

Alice lets you upload images (PNG, GIF, JPEG) and files (TXT, MD, CSV, and PDF) that are no larger than 10MB and contain no more than 75,000 words. Be cautious, though, because if you want to work with bigger files but your active model has low input token limits, the request will fail.
Uploaded files and images are represented as below, so it's either an icon of the file type or preview of the image.

Files that are waiting in the queue will be added to the message you send. So, for example, the contents of a text file will be added to the end of your message, and the active assistant will be able to read it.

Documents library
For documents you work with frequently, Alice allows you to add them and bring them to any conversation. They're in the bottom right corner of the app.

First, you need to upload and organize files to Alice. This happens at the assistant level. Click "Manage" next to Enable switch, or navigate to Settings -> Documents. Here, you can drop documents onto Alice or use the Upload button. You can also organize them in folders.
Once you upload the document, please review:
Name of the document
Description
Content of the document
You can modify all of the above including content of the file! The file is not linked to your original file on hard drive, rather than stored in Alice local memory (is not being sent anywhere and stays private)
Important! Make sure that Name and Description are good enough for Alice to make sense of it, as she won't load the content to each conversation, just name and description and base on this information to decide if file needs to be loaded in the conversation.
Remember that you need both documents and specific file enabled for Alice to take those documents into consideration in the conversation.

Once this is set, in the conversation, Alice will try to recall the documents in the context when needed. Please, note, that Alice creates names and descriptions for the documents you upload and those are only available information about the file in the context of each conversation.
If you want to make sure she specifically loads the file you want, just ask her e.g. "read seo guidelines". She will then notify you that the whole file has been imported to the context and you can freely work with it.
Remember, that overloading context with files and even names and descriptions will cause Alice to work slower and hallucinate. Always keep context clean and enable / call files when needed. We also recommend working on small .md files. There's a nice approach from Jerzy, one of our users, that you can get inspiration from.
