Make Alice Yours

Of course, you want to customize the app to your needs and to your liking. You might want to tweak the colors a little bit or switch between light and dark themes. Alice offers multiple ways to personalize your experience, making it perfect for both individual use and teamwork.

Changing Themes and Colors

Customization features in Alice are really straightforward. Here's how to access them:

  1. Press ⌘K (Mac) or use the Command menu to access Settings

  2. Navigate to the General tab

  3. Look for the Appearance section

Light and Dark Mode

Alice gives you three theme options:

  • Light Mode: A clean, bright interface

  • Dark Mode: Easier on the eyes in low-light environments

  • System: Automatically matches your system preferences

If your system preferences are set to dark mode and you have Alice set to "System," Alice will automatically switch to light mode when you change your system settings.

Accent Colors

You can also customize the accent color - this affects:

  • Underlines in the interface

  • Action buttons throughout the app

  • Other interactive elements

Choose colors that match your preferences or align with your brand identity. This is especially useful for teams who want to maintain consistent branding across their tools.

Resizable Window

You can easily change the width of Alice's window by dragging its edges. This lets you adjust how much screen space Alice occupies based on what you're working on.

Full-Screen Mode

If you drag the window wide enough, you'll discover the full-screen mode. This expanded view offers:

  • A wider chat window

  • A convenient sidebar navigation menu with access to:

    • Chat history

    • Skills

    • Assistants

    • Settings

    • New chat option

This mode is ideal for focused work sessions, like brainstorming, where you want to minimize distractions and have a larger view of Alice's responses.

If you drag even further you'd be able to dock the history:

Side-Docking

A particularly useful layout option is docking Alice to one side of your screen:

  1. Resize the window to your preferred width

  2. Position it on the left or right side of your screen

  3. Click the "Always show Alice's window" icon to keep it visible

This setup allows you to work simultaneously with other applications (like your browser) while keeping Alice readily accessible. It's perfect for workflows where you're frequently referencing Alice while working in other applications.

Customize for Your Workflow

Depending on your:

  • Current task

  • Brand preferences

  • Personal mood

  • Workspace lighting

You can adjust Alice to perfectly complement your workflow. These customization options ensure that Alice isn't just a powerful tool, but one that fits seamlessly into your personal or team environment.
