Connect Alice to OpenRouter.ai
Use Alice as an Chat UI for OpenRouter.ai
OpenRouter.ai is a platform that provides access to nearly every available LLM, offering higher rate limits and better spending control compared to most providers. You can easily connect to the OpenRouter by using Apps feature of the Alice app.

The first step is to add a new connection and name it "OpenRouter." Then, set the API Endpoint URL to https://openrouter.ai/api/v1/chat/completions and add a new header named "Authorization" setting its value to Bearer OPENROUTER_API_KEY. You can generate the key here: https://openrouter.ai/settings/keys
Now you're ready to add a model. Just select one from the models page: https://openrouter.ai/models, such as Gemini 2.5 Pro. On that page, you'll find its ID, which you can copy and paste into Alice.

You can set the model name to any value you prefer, but the model ID must exactly match the value you copied from OpenRouter. Next, you need to set the Context Window and Output Limit — both values can be found on the model's page.
Note: If the model supports vision, you can select the checkbox to enable image uploads in the chat when this model is active.

Finally, enable the connection with OpenRouter by switching the toggle on, and the model will appear in the models list. You can also assign it to assistants or their skills.
To wrap this up:
Go to Settings → Apps.
Create a new connection named *Open Router*.
Set the API endpoint to `https://openrouter.ai/api/v1/chat/completions`.
Add a header: `Authorization` with the value `Bearer OPENROUTER_API_KEY`.
Go to the model's page and retrieve its ID, context window, and output limit.
Add these values to the Alice app.
Enable the connection.
Select the model from the list.
and that's all.
