There are plenty of AI tools on the market, and each offers a separate subscription 👎
The funny rule of thumb is — each tool is $20.
So subscribing to ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Midjourney costs up to $80 monthly, and that's just the beginning...
How to save on AI models?
Fortunately, there's another way available in Alice.
To use AI in Alice, you don't need any subscription, like ChatGPT or Claude. You pay for usage (tokens) and bring your own API keys. Or you can subscribe to our Unlimited plan, and use all the models under one subscription (guess the price? 😉)
Each model has a different pricing. For example, GPT-4o mini, which I often use in Alice, costs $0.150 / 1M tokens (about 2000 pages of text). For $20 I could "talk through" the equivalent of 400 average-length books.
Besides being cost-effective, you can use many different models. You can interact with all the best models, and the usage cost typically won't exceed a single subscription.
Tip: if you work with large documents or code, it's worth having one additional subscription like ChatGPT or Claude, because pay-per-use costs for, e.g., a PDF document with lots of content and images can be significant.
How to set up usage-based payments?
For each provider, you need an API key. This requires registration, connecting a card, and usually pre-paying a small amount, e.g., $5 (this way you control the costs). Then, you enter the API key in Alice under Settings → General
. You don't need to get all keys!

OpenAI — GPT models that also power ChatGPT, some of the best on the market
Anthropic — excellent Claude models for copywriting and programming
xAI — fantastic Grok models with limited censorship, for calculations and programming
Groq — the fastest models on the market, for quick and inexpensive operations
Perplexity — models with access to current information and the Internet
Deepseek — popular, inexpensive models, comparable to OpenAI
If you want to see this process step by step, it's described in our documentation.
Tip: an alternative is our Unlimited AI plan, which you might consider. It provides access to certain models, with unlimited queries, using our keys, for $20/month. You can activate it here.
Models are changing daily. Now you don't have all the subscriptions to keep up and use what's best!
